Quick overview
Serial Numbers (S/N) and Model numbers help with warranty, support, and identifying compatible parts. Serial is unique to your unit; model identifies the product family.
Common places to check
Most speakers have a sticker or stamped label on the back or underside with both the Model and Serial numbers. Look for text like Model: XYZ-100 and S/N: 123456789.
Portable speakers with removable batteries may hide the S/N inside the battery door or compartment. Remove the battery cover carefully and inspect for a printed label.
For powered or pro speakers, labels are often close to the IEC power socket, input panel, or on the terminal cup.
Check the original box, invoice, or warranty card — serial and model numbers are usually printed on the barcode label attached to the box.
Many modern Bluetooth/wireless speakers reveal model and serial numbers inside their companion app under Settings > About. Some expose them over Bluetooth advertising data.
Examples & formats
Serial and model numbers vary. Here are typical examples you might see:
NX-1000 or JBL Flip 6Serial:
12345A6789 or FJH3294X0001
If you can’t tell which is which — the model often looks like a short code or product name (brand + name). The serial is usually longer and alphanumeric and may be labeled S/N, SN, or Serial.
Troubleshooting if you can't find a label
- Shine a flashlight into seams or recessed areas — some stickers are tucked away.
- Use a magnifier for small text — especially on compact speakers.
- Search your email for the order confirmation or the manufacturer's registration email.
- If the sticker is worn, gently clean the area with isopropyl alcohol to reveal faint ink.
What to do with the numbers
- Register the serial with the manufacturer for warranty.
- Use the model number to search for user manuals, replacement parts, or firmware updates.
- Give both numbers to support teams when requesting repairs.
🧠 Tip: Speaker SN are usually 6–12 characters long and may include letters and numbers (e.g., SPK123456). Models often include brand and series (e.g., Bose SoundLink Revolve, Sony SRS-XB43).
